Challenge Match Brings in New Funds

For the first time in the school’s history, College Prep has received a $1 million pledge from an alumnus in the form of a challenge match to his fellow alumni. Every gift made today by alumni to the school’s endowment will be matched 1:2 up to $1 million. This means an extra dollar will be donated for every two dollars alumni give.

Alumni gifts to the endowment support faculty and students. They support the faculty by providing funds that are needed to recruit and retain engaging, highly-skilled educators, and they support students in the form of much-needed financial aid—aid that the school has an explicit goal of increasing until every student who is admitted here can attend regardless of his or her family’s ability to pay.

As the school looks forward to celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010, it is fitting that the gift comes from an alumnus who credits his College Prep teachers with providing him with the education that led to the success he currently experiences.
